Spring League is on the move

Hello all,

Auckland Ultimate has had a fantastic opportunity present itself in the form of larger / better fields.

As a group we have considered the opportunity and we have decided to...

MOVE SPRING LEAGUE!!!!

The new locations is...

Cornwall Park, Puriri Drive, Greenlane

Some factors in the move are:

* More Space - Spring League was full and we were turning teams away
* Better Fields - Not the sandy fields at The Domain anymore
* One time slot for all social teams
* Trainings for all after the social league has begun for all levels to progress their skills

So what this means for you:

Spring league is now not full, so if you missed out on entering a team, email Rob at auleague.register[at]gmail.com

A slight change in details - Rob will email all the new details to the captains already registered. Basic change is one time slot for ALL games starting about 6 - 6:15. Followed by a training for all interested at about 7pm.

If you are not able to make the shift to the new fields or would like to get further clarification or would like to complain, please direct all email to myself. joe[at]pointless.co.nz

Thanks and see you all at the new fields next week.

Cheers

Fish

Spring League 2008

Hello everybody,

It's starting to warm up, and some Daffodils are starting to flower so it must be time for Spring League. It will be a similar format to last year, of a 5-a-side league with a mix of corporate teams and pick-ups.

When

The league will be on Thursday nights from 6pm. We are aiming to start on Oct 2nd with a tutorial. This is aimed at helping out new starters, and making sure people put away their indoors throws. A casual 'pick-up' game will of course be run afterwards. The League will run through into December.

Cost

The league will cost $30 per person

Where

The league will be at the Auckland Domain

Registration

Please register via auleague.register[at]gmail.com

You are welcome to enter as an individual or as a team. If your team is lacking some experience we may be able to bolster it with some players who register individually.

Title the email 'SPRING LEAGUE 08' with your individual/team details in the attached file: Registration Details

If you are entering a team, please indicate who the captain/key contact is.
All the best.

Rob

Spring League TD.

Ultimate Worlds Update

Tomorrow is the penultimate day of WUGC 2008!

The Open team, Manuka, had a tough day today, losing to Sweden 14-9, and losing to Switzerland for the second day in a row but pushing them to 19-17. Tomorrow they play Venezuela in the 11th/12th playoff, having improved on their 14th seed (out of 18 teams). Canada play Great Britain in one semi, and Japan & USA are in the other. The final is the showcase game on the last day.

Raging Wahine, the Womens team, are also playing well above their seeding of 13th (15 teams), playing Great Britain for 5th place tomorrow. Today they lost to top seeds Canada, but beat Germany 16-15 in a 15 minute final universe point, which included two timeouts. The usual suspects are in the semis: Japan vs Australia, and Canada vs USA.

The 9th seed Masters team has made the semifinals! Tuatara finished 4th in their single pool of ten teams, so have the privilege of playing the unbeaten USA for a spot in the final. Canada and Australia are in the other semi.

In the Mixed division, Japan, USA, Canada and Australia are in the semis. USA and Canada are contesting the Junior Open final, and Japan play Australia For the Junior Womens title. Japan finished 1-2 in the Guts competition.

Best of luck to the Kiwi teams tomorrow, and if you'd like to follow their progress online the games can be found here.

First Worlds Update

Hi all,

For those of you interested, the Ultimate World Championships have begun in Vancouver. Scores can be found at the following addresses and are updated goal by goal, including scorer and assist. It is pretty cool, although they have a few of our names wrong in the scoring system (which seems strange as they are correct on the roster). Check out Auckland's own Zev Fishman scoring NZ's first 4 points in their opening loss to Finland.

Summary so far:
Open lost to Finland 17-6, but beat Mexico 17-5.
Women beat Ireland 17-4 and play Mexico at the moment.
Masters lost to Canada 17-9 and play USA shortly.

Open:

Masters
