Perth — scouting report

Perth was great. We went through undefeated, although we had to come back from 9-5 down in the semi, and 11-8 down at time cap, to win 12-11 against Deathstar (Canberra) and make the final. We were going comfortably in the final, and at 14-10 looked pretty good. However, Fakulti came back to tie at 14 all, game to 15. We turned it over, then got it back, then went the length of the field upwind to score. Tense. For more details on the results : http://www.afda.com

Perth will be a great place for Worlds. The fields we played at were just the overflow fields, and unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see the main fields. However, they weren't too far from where we were playing, so I'd strongly recommend staying at Scarborough Beach rather than in the city. The wind wasn't too much of a factor - a light breeze but no "Fremantle Doctor" to speak of. Apparently November is quite reasonable in Perth - mid 20s and sunny. I think the conditions will suit NZ teams well.

Perth is very easy to navigate around, and there is very little congestion. It would be a great place to spend 2-3 days exploring, but no more than that. You can do Perth City in half a day, Fremantle in half a day and the beaches and other areas in a day or 2. Rottnest Island is worth spending a day at snorkeling and riding.
