Women's & Men's tournament 1: Christchurch 11-12 March 2006

Final Placings:

Well the Women's division really stole the show with an extremely tight and well contested competition. Following a full double round robin 3 teams (Licketysplit - (Ak), Artemis - (Wn) and Chch Chicks (Ch)) were all tied up and it came down to goal difference to see who would contest the final. After losing to both the other teams in the three way tie on Saturday Artemis finished strongly to have a +3 goal difference and take the first spot in the final. Licketysplit was to finish with a -1 goal difference - just enough to pip Christchurch at the post who finished on -2! The improvement shown by "Hodge-Podge (Dn) over the weekend meant there were no easy games and it was great to see the caliber of Women's play on display in the trial game - all bodes well for Perth - keep up the great work.

No surprises in the men's division with Bluefish still setting the standard for all others to aspire to. Well drilled and full of running the proved to strong for Wellington's "Doris" that put up a good fight in the final and promise to come back for more in Palmy! Surprise of the tourney was to come fro the lowly ranked Dunedin team "Headless" - who despite being thrown together as the last minute managed to put together some half descent ultimate at times - showing some heart with a never say die come back in the semi-final to make sure Doris had to earn their spot in the final. Again there were some great skills on display in the trial for the Open team to attend WUCC later in the year - showing the future of our sport is in good hands.
