2005/06 Competitive season

NZU National Tournament Series

The NZUA would like to thank all those who provided feedback regarding the tour format for the upcoming season. Although it was felt that some of the discussion got off the topic it all provided interesting reading.

From the discussion, NZUA has put together the following 3-year plan for the National Tournament Series;

2005/06: 2 mixed events (5/2 split) & 2 (or 3?) men’s/women’s events.

2006/07: 2 mixed events (4/3 split – subject to review) & 3 men’s/women’s events.

2007/08: 2 mixed events (4/3 split) & National Tour (3 open/women’s events – subject to review).

This format has been put together taking into account the recent discussions with development in mind and a move to men’s (eventually open) and women’s events. Regions can now start their own development programmes with a look to the future.

More information regarding tentative event dates and the format of events will be posted next week. Events will be spread as follows Auckland, Christchurch and 2 central; Wellington and/or Palmerston North. Event dates will be similar to last season.

NZUA is looking for a Tournament Co-ordinator to run the National Tournament Series and liaise with the Tournament Directors – download the job description (PDF 76k). For more details or to apply please email the Board.
